The significance of this issue is underscored by a recent CDC report, especially concerning patients diagnosed with Alpha-gal Syndrome (AGS). For these individuals, there exists a heightened risk of allergic reactions to specific animal-derived components found in medications, such as lactose and gelatin. Further, animal derived ingredients are also avoided by many with dietary (e.g. vegans, vegetarians) or religious preferences. As such, finding statins or other crucial medications without animal-derived ingredients has been a significant hurdle - until now.

The process is simple. Patients and healthcare providers can reach out to VeganMed to identify appropriate medications that can be compounded or made available without animal-derived ingredients. When appropriate, a prescription would be sent to OptioRx for processing and shipping of the specific animal-free medications.
