Vegan Skin Care Routine

Why is Skin Care Important?

A consistent and effective skin care routine can help prevent acne, prevent and treat wrinkles, keep skin looking more youthful, and boost self-confidence. As we age, our skin begins to thin, produce less oil, lose fat, and becomes more fragile resulting in visible signs such as wrinkles and less radiant skin. Although we can’t prevent aging, following a daily skin care routine can assist with slowing the process.

5-Step Skin Care Routine To Get You Started

  1. Cleanser: Removes oil and dirt from skin and pores

    1. Helpful Tip: Before cleansing, rinse your face with lukewarm water

  2. Exfoliator: Removes dead skin cells

  3. Toner: Removes impurities that are stuck in pores

  4. Moisturizer: Maintains skin hydration

  5. Sunscreen: Prevents long-term skin damage from the sun

The sequence of product application steps affects how well each product is able to work and soak into the skin. Wait at least 1 minute between each step to prevent product dilution.

Remembering these steps can be a bit tricky at times. Fortunately, Evoke's Certified Animal Free Skincare collection offers a helpful step-by-step routine on each of their products!

What Else Can Be Done For Extra Skin Care?

For extra skin care, face masks can be used 1-2 times per week. One option is Rael’s certified animal-free facial sheet masks which can be applied to the face for about 10-20 minutes to help moisturize the skin. A variety of masks are available to suit your skincare needs.

Skincare Product Certifications

With many skincare products being certified cruelty-free, vegan, and/or animal-free, it’s important to understand the differences between certifications.

  • Cruelty-free: Can contain animal byproducts in the final product, but no animal testing allowed

  • Vegan: No animal byproducts in the final product and no animal testing allowed

  • Animal-free: No animal byproducts in the final product, but animal testing is possible

Vegan Skin Care Ingredients

The chart below lists common animal-derived ingredients in skincare products along with their plant-based alternatives that achieve a similar effect. Many vegan formulations contain beneficial vitamins and essential nutrients which can provide anti-inflammatory and antioxidative effects to help keep skin healthy and fresh. It is important to know the ingredients contained in products to understand how you may react and benefit from their use. Some cosmetic products may contain potentially harmful ingredients such as parabens, phthalates, benzophenone, and allergens.

Conclusion

A consistent, daily skin care routine is essential to keep your skin healthy and youthful. Following the sequence of 5 steps listed above can assist in providing maximal benefit from each product used. As the count of products used increases, so too do the chances of skin irritation. It is important to ensure the products used are suitable for your skin. Along with Rael's animal-free certified face masks mentioned above, many other skincare options are available on our marketplace. VeganMed is here to help you on your animal-free skin care journey!
